Film Storage • What's Coming?
Motion picture film has been with us for over 100 years. Very few of the original negatives from that period or for that matter any period are preserved. — 35mm film is the only moving media that has kept its physical properties unchanged. A film from that time can in principle be screened today. — 35mm film has always been stored in the tin in which the raw stock manufacturer supplied it in, nearly and in principle, yes. Tins have from time to time been changed to new ones when they were too rusty and bumbed, but basically no.
