The role of today's Engineering Manager has drastically changed since the late 1980's. He faces entirely new problems with operating cost reductions, staffing and new technologies. Some new and innovative ways to integrate maintenance testing and diagnostics techniques will be an important part of the overall maintenance management process. Utilization of the PC and new engineering software and its serial interface to equipment will be commonly used by the entire maintenance staff.
