Resolution Considerations in Using CCD Imagers in Broadcast-Quality Cameras

The evolution of a totally solid-state camera, with performance suitable for broadcast applications, has been underway for many years. The first all-transistorized cameras were introduced some two decades ago.1 The manufacturer called this product line “The New Look.” But, the imaging device remained a pickup tube, with its inherent instability, fragility, and limited life.
