Optimization of the D-1 DTTR Standard by Simulation Techniques

Roland Mester

The D-1 DTTR standard marks the launch of a world-wide non-manufacturer-specific standard for digital video recording. The standard is based on the experience gained by several manufacturers with experimental digital recorders. The measurements and experience obtained with these devices made it possible to develop mathematical models corresponding to reality. These mathematical models permitted the standard to be optimized by simulation techniques above and beyond the limits of the experimental recorders.
