The BTSC Multichannel Television Sound System
The quest for a method of broadcasting stereophonic sound and second language with television goes back many decades. There was a flurry of activity, worldwide, in the late 1950's and early 1960's. In the mid 1960's, the question was raised again in the U.S., but was dropped because of the lack of interest. In the 1970's, both Japan and West Germany adopted standards.
