Bases of the EBU Standard on Magnetic Recording of Digital Component Video Signals
The author begins by outlining the design imperatives which had to be taken into account in defining the standard for magnetic recording of digital component video signals, and goes on to outline the main features of the Standard. He sets out the factors underlying the choice of tape width and leader characteristics, and explains the track structure and the subdivision of tracks into sectors. More particularly, he develops the possible solutions examined before a decision was taken on the location of audio and video signal segments and the grouping of data words for error-protection purposes.
