Networked Mixed Media Computing

Brian C. Knittel

Networked Mixed Media Computing is defined as combining various “media” (audio, video, text, graphics, MIDI, and images) together under the control of software applications distributed across a network of computers. This technology will change the way that video, audio, and computer people operate, and we should expect some integration of the now very separate video, audio, and computing industries. — The impact of Networked Mixed Media Computing will be felt when it is easy to use, easy to produce material, and inexpensive enough to be prevalent. This paper discusses these issues.
