Opening Address
Good morning ladies and gentlemen, members and guests. Welcome to the 26th Annual Advanced Television and Electronic Imaging Conference of the Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers. Welcome also to the ever beautiful “City By The Bay”. The theme of the conference “Collision or Convergence: Digital Video/Audio, Computers and Telecommunications”, and the papers to be presented today and tomorrow should, we hope, generate much interest in the converging technologies of digital picture and sound, compression, and computers.
