Distributed Facility Control via Ancillary Data

William C. Miller, Alfred Molinari

Remote control of television equipment is usually done with separate, dedicated cabling, using either hardwired connections, a data routing matrix or more recently a local area network. This separate cabling presents many problems to the design engineer. This paper describes a system for remote equipment control which embeds the control information within the serial digital video signal, enabling control to be established wherever the baseband video can be delivered.
