Deploying Video Platforms in the Cloud

Andrew Sinclair

The cloud is transforming IT infrastructure and much like “IT hardware” transformed broadcast equipment the next evolution is set to have a major impact on the broadcast industry. There are now many mature cloud platforms and combined with the relatively low cost of fibre optic networking within metro areas this presents a major opportunity to leverage the cloud for video workflows. This paper looks at many of the possibilities and challenges the cloud presents from production, edit, asset management, playout and distribution.
