New Test Materials for Evaluating HDR & SDR Displays
Initial Understanding & Purpose: Up to and including HDTV, there have been fairly straightforward rules about the ‘canvas’ on which our video and digital motion picture content is created. The’ canvas', of course, is the electronic display device we use to see the content. During the program production process, the display, along with a waveform monitor, helps us determine if we are adhering to system specifications for the domain in which we are creating our art. Ideally, the canvas should be well defined in both the production and reproduction of our content if artistic intent is to be conveyed to an audience.
