European Broadcasters' Requirements for Production Video Monitors

Richard Salmon

Video monitoring in the production of TV programmes is important since it is essential that the visual appearance within a single programme is consistent, and that consumers do not need to adjust settings on their TV sets for each programme or when switching channels. Standards are also important to facilitate the exchange of material between broadcasters, and they must be stable in the long term to ensure that material from the archive can be broadcast along-side more recent productions.
