Tools for Interactive Picture Processing Systems

Alan L. Bridges

Innovations in raster graphics technology have led to the development of tunrkey computer graphics systems that combine interactive graphics and digital image processing. These interactive picture processing systems provide hardware and software necessary for input, creation, manipulation, storage and output of visual images. Interactive picture processing systems have evolved from traditional visual communications media, such as painting, paper, pencils, printing, photography, mechanical typesetting, film, and video. This revolution has changed the emphasis of computer graphics from numbers-intensive to art-intensive devices.
