High-Fidelity Video Recording Using Ultrasonic Light Modulation

Leo Levi

The method described makes it possible to record electronic signals at video frequencies on photographic materials. employing the modulation of light intensity by ultrasonic waves, the system is capable of resolution an dynamic range performance well in excess of that obtained with conventional methods. both black-and-white and color modulation of light are possible. ultrasonic light modulation has been successfully employed to obtain high-quality radar information, and it is inherently capable of providing a similar function in video recording — either field-by-field or continuous.
