Electrical Printing

John G. Frayne

This paper reviews deficiencies in present photographic printing techniques of 35- and 16-mm films and shows how they are overcome in electrical printing as defined in the paper. The technique for electrical transfer of variable-density and area tracks to reversible color films is described. For transfer to black-and-white release films both the direct-positive variable-area and supersonic “toe” density techniques are compared for this type of recording service.
