A Comparison of Color Negative Films and HDTV Cameras for Television Program Production

Many factors are important in the selection of a television production medium, including artistic flexibility, objective performance, and practical production considerations. The characteristics of motion-picture camera negative film are compared to those of today's HDTV cameras in this article. Motion-picture film is the medium of choice for the origination of today's television programs and is likely to remain so for tomorrow's high-definition television (HDTV) programs.
