It is with pride and pleasure that I accepted the honor of addressing this 75th Anniversary Conference of the Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers. Our Society holds an esteemed position among scientific and technical disciplines in that it has encouraged participation and influence from management and practitioners as well as from scientists and engineers.
