A Video Filing System Using Magneto-Optical Disks
A high access speed, high-quality, and high-reliability videodisc recorder, the VF-l Video Disk Recorder, has been developed. This recorder uses magneto-optical disks with a diameter of 20 cm (8 in.) as the recording medium. The unit can make a digital recording of full-motion scenes at 30 frames/sec and accommodate two channels of audio for 2 min and 36 sec on one disk. The VF-l Video Disk Recorder and its application system, the VFS-500 Video File System, are discussed and described in this article.
