Correction of Reproduced Color Errors Due to Bandwidth Limitation of the Color-Difference Signals
Correct color reproduction in present TV systems is not always obtained due to the bandwidth limitation of color-difference signals and gamma precorrection on the camera side. Some of the details in highly saturated color pictures are often lost. Some signal-processing methods are known to reduce the resolution loss, but the errors in hue and/or color saturation are still unimproved. In this article the color-reproduction errors in TV systems are treated mathematically, and a new signal-processing method that reduces the errors significantly is discussed.
