Networked Compact Disc Interactive

D. T. Chai, G. G. Hartwick, E. Lubchenko, J. Nachem

New opportunities for networked compact disc-interactive (NCDI) services with real-time and motion content will emerge with the next generation of compact disc-interactive (CD-I) players. These units will be equipped with data ports capable of being connected to various telephone network platforms. Application presentations will be a combination of information stored on the local disc and that which is transported over the network. Attributes of each network platform, such as transport speed and direction, will play a major role in defining the concept and content of applications developed for each.
