Multistandard Image Sequence Storage — ISP500

Wolfgang Jourdan, Harald Nather

This article describes the ISP500 multistandard image sequence storage system. It is capable of handling any currently used video standard, as well as synthetic formats that might have to be analyzed, particularly those under consideration for implementation in the future. The system's extremely high throughput rates for the internal system bus and the various video input/output processors ensure its ability to define, program, and process any such video formats. Multistandard image sequence storage systems are ideal platforms for HDTV research, picture coding, and simulation of future visual communication services.
