A 525-Line Component Progressive Scan outside Broadcast Vehicle
Nippon Television Network (NTV) produced a 525-line component progressive scan outside broadcast (OB) vehicle, which is used for EDTV-II, a widescreen NTSC-compatible broadcast that started July 14, 1995, in Japan. The 525-line progressive scan is also employed as one of the scanning formats for standard-definition television (SDTV) in ATV.1 This is purported to be the world's first progressive scan OB vehicle. It features a 16:9 progressive scan/4:3 interlaced scan switchable system, and it is an entirely digital component system from cameras to production switcher. The progressive signal output can be easily converted to any other scanning formats such as high-definition, or HD (1125/1035 interlaced) and ATV (1125/1080 interlaced, 750/720 progressive).
