Signal Processing in the Image Transform System

Pete Comandini

An overall view of signal processing techniques is presented with the emphasis on the different types of correction employed. The system is broken down into the main segments of the signal flow which include: noise reduction, frame rate conversion, luminance/chrominance correction, selective image enhancement, scene-by-scene color correction, masking, and time-parallax correction. The functions of computer control are explained with reference to real-time and out-of-real-time operation, noise reduction and color correction. The problems inherent in the improvement of video signals are discussed along with a basic description of their solution.
