Ion-Exchange Recovery Techniques for the Reuse of Color Developers
The feasibility of the application of an ion-exchange method to the recovery and subsequent reuse of color developers is reviewed. After a brief discussion of the basic chemistry of the color-developer process and of color-developer recovery methods, the fundamentals of the ion-exchange mechanism are described. Two color-developer recovery methods using ion-exchange equipment are described in detail. Data are presented on the photographic effect of ion-exchange-treated color developer. From the general discussion of the principles involved in ion-exchange color-developer recovery, the conclusion is reached that the development of ion-exchange recovery techniques for color developers is a well justified effort.
