An “Integrated Pickup Component” Module for a High Performance Economical TV Camera

H. Sakai, T. Takikawa, H. Sokei, T. Iida

The design problems for obtaining an integrated pickup component (IPC) module for an economical high performance TV camera are discussed. In this module, the optical components and the camera tubes, form a permanently bonded block, factory-preset for optimum performance. The yoke assemblies are fixed on the pickup tubes, and the tube assembly is permanently fixed to a holding block. The IPC can be installed (as is normal) by the manufacturer or by a serviceman in the field. No further registration adjustment of the three channels with regard to each other is required. No alignment adjustment is required. The unit is of small size and light weight, and no mechanical registration is required. A parallel dichroic mirror optical system with relay-lens optical focus compensation and electrostatic electron beam focusing are used. A very durable integral unit with low power consumption and minimal needs for adjustment, service, and installation has thus been realized.
