The educational activities of 1979 cannot be considered apart from the activities of the last 10 years. With the development of a variety of learning aids there arose a concomitant need for the standardization of audiovisual material. During the last 10 years some 20 standards directly related to audiovisual materials used in education have been approved. Acceptance of so-called mechanical learning aids has increased to the point where the only consideration in making use of the latest technology is what it can do for the student and what the school budget can afford. The new educational era began some 10 years ago; since then the new technology has withstood the test of time
