Introduction to Digital Computer Graphics for Video

This paper is intended for the video broadcast engineering audience. It begins with a brief description of computer graphics as presently used in the television industry. This is followed by a description of some relevant display technologies. Subsequent discussion describes various techniques for image representation and generation. The respective terminology, advantages, and disadvantages of the various technologies are considered. Particular emphasis is accorded to frame store systems. Concluding remarks discuss future trends in video image generation.
