Modulation Transfer Functions of TV Camera Tubes
A system is described for the measurement of the modulation transfer function (MTF) of TV camera tubes at video frequencies 0.5 MHz ≤ f ≤ 10 MHz. The MTF is found from a slit-shaped object imaged on the pickup tube. An appropriate TV line is selected, sampled, and stored by a transient recorder coupled to a small computer which is used for the calculations. Test measurements on a 1-inch Plumbicon camera tube showed that the system performs in a satisfactory manner.
