Flying-Spot Scanner on 525-Line NTSC Standards

In Europe, the flying-spot scanner has been the predominant form of telecine device since the beginnings of public broadcasting; in North America, however, it has not gained widespread popularity. The basic reasons for this situation are given. Advances in flying-spot systems are described, with emphasis on the development of a scanner for the 525-line NTSC system.
