A Reprint: A Proposal for the Measurement of the Frictional Properties of Raw Film Stock

Werner Eilhammer, Max Rotthaler

This article outlines several test methods for determining the slip properties of film. One method can determine whether or not a film has been lubricated, while other methods can deduce the exact friction coefficient of different types of film. These methods aid the movement of film through a camera by analyzing the different forces acting on the film, and help prevent such problems as picture jitter, damage, and even breakage of film.
