Point of View: A Retrospective Look at Canadian Participation in the SMPTE

In 1916 a group of engineers and technicians formally incorporated the Society of Motion Picture Engineers, and soon afterwards Canadians began their association with the society. This paper describes the growth of the society, the creation of the Canadian section in 1957, and the contributions made by Canadian members — as well as their unique problems.
