SMPTE Applications Report: Production and Post-Production Experience with ½-in. Camera Recorders in the CBC

This article describes the growing conversion from film to electronic techniques as experienced by the Canadian Broadcasting Corp. (CBC) in the production and post-production of its dramatic and other non-ENG programs. A comparison is drawn between the film and video systems, with the advantages and disadvantages of each system discussed. The use of the Betacam in this role is described.
