A Reprint: Photoconductors Utilized in TV Camera Tubes
This article surveys the various photoconductors currently used in beam-scanned and vidicon-type television tubes. The chemical, physical, and electronic characteristics of the photoconductors are described, as well as the way they are utilized in the camera tube to produce a television signal. The various materials discussed are selenium, antimony trisulfide, lead oxide, cadmium selenide, zinc cadmium telluride, zinc sulfide, and silicon, all of which have been used as the basis for these photoconductors.
