Parallel Component Analog Video Timing and Amplitude Considerations
The SMPTE Working Group on Studio Video Standards (WGSVS) and predecessor working groups have been studying the characteristics of vertical interval timing and amplitude reference signals as a part of parallel component signal standards activity. The group has focused on a number of specific waveforms that can provide sufficient information to detect relative parallel channel errors, which data could be used to adjust the relative timing and amplitude of the signals to within acceptable tolerances. This article presents several possible system approaches that use reference signal information to compensate for variations in component signal amplitude and relative timing. Also described are specific hardware tests that were conducted and the results achieved.
