Cultivating the Wasteland with Technology

Why should public television concern itself with the application of new technology? One answer is that the timely application of new technology to the PBS system has served it well in the past and has contributed to its mission and therefore its success. Public broadcasting has pioneered the technologies which served the producer, the artist, and the viewer, and not the profit motive.
