Nineteen eighty-seven was a banner year, with more hardware than that introduced the previous year, and improvements to products already established within the industry. Quantities of D-1 machines as well as various types of SP machines became available. The CCD camera for ENG and EFP applications now features improved resolution and has many of the automatic features found in the larger studio cameras. Digital audio editing continues to grow. Improved NTSC/PAL encoding and decoding technology is being utilized, and 1500-Oe metal particle tape is now available from several sources.
