If Progressive Scanning is So Good — How Bad is Interlace?

Within the HDTV electronic post production system (particularly in its digital implementation) it is hard to argue against the impressive list of merits inherent in progressive scanning. These merits must, however, be evaluated against the sobering reality of the enormous bandwidth required.
