Multiprogram Transport Stream: Management and Switching Solutions

Terrestrial DTV transport stream management can be difficult at times. Broadcasters are now required to manage network-provided multiple-program standard-definition transport streams for multicast during part of the broadcast day, locally encoded content that can be added to the bouquet of MPTS services, and high-definition content. This paper explores the technical challenges of managing the complex bouquet of programs confronting the terrestrial DTV broadcaster, with a focus on how to switch programs in the ATSC transport stream.
