Applying Automated Content Organization Technologies to Digital Media Storage

This paper describes the implementation of a real-world, tapeless production system within an operational production company. The paper looks at the automated generation of metadata for use throughout the production workflow. Conclusions are made, based on the results of user studies. The first section of this paper describes the overall system concept and architecture. The second section details the automated metadata extraction technologies and how they are presented to the user. The third section highlights the productivity gains of such a system and discusses the benefits to the video production workflow.
