4K and Beyond—Comparing Digital Camera Performance: Part II

Hans Kiening

This contribution is part of a two-part series in which Part 1 presented a detailed description of the basics, problems and contradictions involved in the photometric description of camera systems. The development and manufacture of camera systems requires meaningful and exactly reproduceable reference parameters. During the design phase of the Alexa camera system, the image analysis and QC department at Arnold & Richter developed a new procedure for comparing professional still and motion picture camera systems. This second part describes, in detail, those measurement techniques developed to present camera performance data more clearly.
