SMPTE Board Approves Section in India! [Message from the Executive Director]

I am delighted to report that at its 28 October 2011 meeting, the SMPTE Board of Governors overwhelmingly voted to approve the foundation of its first new Section in India. A hearty thank-you to Ujwal Nirgudkar, a SMPTE Fellow from Mumbai, who came forward with a petition of more than 50 SMPTE members requesting to establish this Section. The new India Section will be based in Mumbai at Whistling Woods International, Asia's largest film, television, animation, and media arts institute. With India's strong interest in both IT and film/television, Ujwal expects to grow the Section quickly with new members.
