Obituary
Charles (Charlie) E. Anderson, a member of the six-man Ampex team that developed the world's first successful videotape recorder, died on July 12, 2012 after suffering a stroke at a nursing care facility in Sparks, Nevada. Anderson was a SMPTE Life Fellow and a former SMPTE President. He was a member of the organization for more than 50 years and was also the recipient of the organization's highest honor, Honorary Member. Although his talents and accomplishments were many, he is most remembered for introducing the principle of frequency modulation into videotape recording.
