Industry Progress is SMPTE's Business [Message from the Executive Director]

As I write these lines, I am returning from Sydney, Australia, to the U.S. I was in Sydney to attend SMPTE13, the biennial SMPTE expo and conference event, hosted by the SMPTE Australia Section. Attendance results are still being tallied, but it appears that SMPTE13 was the most highly-attended event in recent history. That's saying quite a lot in an industry still going through a huge amount of transition.
