Entertainment Technology in the Internet Age: 2014 Recap

David Cardinal

ETIA 2014, jointly sponsored by SMPTE and Stanford's Center for Image Systems Engineering (SCIEN) was held June 17 and 18 on the Stanford campus—appropriately enough in the Nvidia Auditorium. More than 50 industry experts spoke over the course of two days, providing insights on best practices and future challenges for serving the entertainment needs of consumers worldwide over IP-based infrastructure—most commonly using the Internet. After an introduction from co-hosts Pat Griffis and Joyce Farrell, SMPTE President Wendy Aylsworth and Stanford's Senior Associate Dean Bernd Girod welcomed attendees to the conference, with Girod reminding everyone of Stanford's long heritage in moving pictures starting with Muybridge.
