Laser-Illuminated Projectors: A Landmark Year
This has been a pivotal year in the commercial launch of laser-illuminated projectors. After the past several years of research, industry demonstrations and trials, commercial laser-illuminated projectors are now being deployed worldwide, in a range of brightness levels and architectures. New developments in laser-pumped phosphor designs have quickly made this technology a popular choice for smaller projectors suitable for both conference room and medium-size venue commercial use. In parallel, there has been significant progress in updating out-of-date regulatory standards that could stifle the adoption of laser projection systems. Furthermore, important work has advanced the industry's understanding of how to measure laser speckle, the undesirable shimmering artifact familiar to anyone who has used a laser pointer.
