Blockchain in Media—A True Calling?

In recent years, blockchain has topped the chart of disruptive technologies. The promises of a decentralized, self-organized, trusted party that removes the need for a central organization to validate transactions has inflated the hopes of several companies and industries on the real potential of blockchain and its applications. Companies rushed to board the blockchain train (with the financial industry in the lead), trying hard to fit the technology to any use case at hand in a desperate attempt not to miss a new wave of technological changes.
