Metadata and Rights Management for Media Assets Using Blockchain Technology

This paper first explains the blockchain technology from a technical perspective. The concept of smart contracts is described, which allows hosting executable code inside blockchains. The second part presents a schema of how metadata and rights contracts can be stored in a blockchain, and how the relations are established. The last part sketches a system for automated execution of usage of rights contracts.
