Single source of truth is an important concept in modern data center management practices. It is fundamental to reliably automate the configuration, deployment, and management of resources in large data centers. Legacy media systems that incorporate dedicated resource registries, such as Network Media Open Specification (NMOS), are maladapted to integration into single source of truth data center management systems because they introduce their own, additional, dedicated source of truth. Permitting multiple sources of truth to emanate in a new system to accommodate legacy system integration has the effect of increasing system complexity and decreasing system reliability. Open legacy protocols, such as the NMOS, however, make it feasible to consider new implementations that resolve the legacy maladaptation problem and preserve a new system’s single source of truth design principles.
