12G SDI over RF Coaxial Structures

With the rapid growth of ultra-high-definition television, there is an urgent industry need to transmit 12G SDI signals per SMPTE 2082 over RF coaxial structures. For a system to operate effectively, the cumulative performance, considering all system components, must meet minimum requirements. Key components in these systems include, RF connectors, printed circuit boards, and discrete board level active and passive components. This paper will highlight the actual development of a 12G SDI system and discuss the technical challenges and solutions for each critical component to achieve effective transmission.
